Is there no-one else trying to catch coarse fish (misnomer there) on the fly? There is nothing coarse about a small dace, or roach, that takes the fly and puts a small bend in your rod. There are various articles in the magazine on the subject, especially for Pike. The coarse season is coming to a close (fortunately my trout season is about to begin) but I shall look forward eagerly to June when I can become frustrated by those dace again. Catching a lightening quick dace, or even two, on a size 16 dry fly is sometimes more enjoyable than a larger trout on a nymph. For those of you who have never tried this before, you should try, it. It is eminently satisfying to catch such a small fish, that can inspect, take and reject a fly in an instant, and hit it 'just right'. If I'm lucky, I catch a few more. My success rate is about 10%, miss 9 catch 1! Frustrating? But good fun! Jofn
