CARSINGTON WATER (we 16/04/06) Rod av. 1.2. The weather was quite mixed this week with everything from force 8/9 gusts on one day to a lovely day on Saturday with a light ripple and a fairly warm southerly breeze. The water temperature continues to rise slowly, reaching a high of 6.5? on Sunday. Keeping your flies well down will remain a good tactic until the water temperature rises up further. The best area’s this week were: Tower Bank, Brown Ale Bay and Fish Tail Creek. The best flies of the week were: Montana, Orange Fritz, Hares Ears, Black & Green Fritz, Black Buzzer and Viva.
EYEBROOK (we 16/04/06) Rod av. 3.51. Changeable weather, turning milder towards the latter end of the week, proved to be much more conduicive towards game angling. Some bumper bags were reported. Bloodworm, Black Buzzer, Black & Green Tadpole, Green Damsel all proving successful.
RUTLAND WATER (we 16/04/06) Rod av. 4.14. Anglers have enjoyed an excellent week at Rutland Water with good numbers of fish caught. Plenty of limits have been recorded with lots of over wintered fish also showing. The banks are fishing very well with several limits recorded. The best rises are later in the evening. Boat anglers have had superb sport with an excellent rod average of 5.3 for the week. Best boat areas: the main basin, east creek, sailing club, Old Hall, New Zealand point. Best bank areas: Sailing Club, Normanton, Sykes Lane, Barnhill Creek, New Zealand Point. Several limits have been taken between the Old Hall and Yellowstone, Stockie Bay to East Creek and fishing by the harbour. The best methods have been weighted lures on floating intermediate line for bank anglers. Buzzers beginning to work. Similar methods for boat anglers but with sinking lines in the deeper water.
GRAFHAM WATER (we 16/04/06) Rod av. 3.36. Grafham Water has been in top form this week with plenty of anglers catching their bag limits from mainly the boats as the vast majority of the fish are feeding around 100-200 yards from the shore on daphnia and buzzers. Bank anglers are having some cracking sport from the bowl of the dam and Deep Point on floating lines with Buzzers. The fishery is getting busier now with rising temperatures and the boats can roam to all parts of the lake and try different areas. Anglers are reporting the fish gorging themselves on the vast quantities of daphnia in the lake as well as increasing numbers of buzzer so prospects for the new match season look good. Best boat areas: Gaynes Cove/Plummer Park, seat/sludge bank, G Buoy, Rectory Bay, Hill Farm. Best bank areas: bowl of dam, deep water point, Gaynes Cove/Plummer Park, G bank, Hill Farm
PITSFORD WATER (we 16/04/06) Rod av. 3.1. The bank sport has been hectic this weekend with plenty of anglers taking limits. The best method by far is Buzzers on a floating line. Stilton Point, the Gorse and Stone Barn Bay are the hot spots. Best boat areas: Pines, Stone Barn and Bog Bay. Best bank areas: Stone Barn Bay, Bog Bay, Sailing Club bank, Gorse and Sermans bank. Best methods: Intermediate lines and floating lines best. Small damsel nymphs – Buzzers, black and red, black and green
RAVENSTHORPE RESERVOIR (we 16/04/06) Rod av. 9.64. Both boat and bank anglers are enjoying superb sport with fish feeding heavily on buzzer and daphnia. Some large bags of fish have been taken by the boat anglers. Best bank areas: mongers to causeway and dam wall. Best boat areas: all areas. Best methods: Bung fishing with 4-14ft leaders and a Buzzer team has proved best this week. Bank anglers are drifting Buzzers and Diawls around in the wind mainly from the Ravensthorpe shore.

Some excellent catches this week with 110 recorded fish topping 2lb 8oz and some spectacular large fish topped by Bewl regular Adrian Necci's 13lb 6oz rainbow from the bank at New Barn on a damsel. Bewl Bridge Flyfishing Club staged their annual Bank Competition on Saturday with astonishing success: 56 anglers took 257 fish from the banks (Bramble Bay, Seven Pound Creek, Copens to Ferry Point to Dunsters plus The Nose) for rod average of 4.6.
