Amount of rainfall 14.7mm, max air temperature 16.2C/61.16F. 12/8/08 Mr Tommy Duggan was in good form with a good bag of Sea Trout and finished the day off with a Grilse, other anglers did well in the Sea trout department but no real rod benders in the specimen Sea Trout department. Wind WNW fresh and times strong with the heavy showers, amount of rainfall 16.2mm, max air temperature 17.1C/62.78F. 13/8/08 Another flood this morning and on the Salmon sand Sea trout front things are quiet? even though there were a few Juniors caught and in the salmon department Mr Tommy Duggan with his Gillie Mr Dominic Mc Gillicudy caught a grilse on the fly and added a few Sea trout to their basket and staying in the Sea trout department our manger Mr John Murphy and of WWW.Loughcurrane.com was telling me that Mr Kevin O’Sullivan of Lake road Waterville has had some nice baskets of Sea trout in the evening shift. Wind WNW fresh to strong with the odd heavy shower, amount of rainfall 6.9mm, max air temperature 16.6C/61.88F. 14/8/08 There were just a few Juniors caught. Wind WNW light with bright sunshine throughout the day amount of rainfall o.1mm, max air temperature 17.4C/63.32F.15/8/08 There were good baskets of Sea trout caught by anglers, but nothing in the specimen class. Wind SW light to fresh and overcast and this evening it has made another big flood. 16/8/08 Waterville Fishery development Group held their first Lough Currane catch and release Sea Trout fly fishing Championship and I can tell you fishing may have been hard with a rising Lake, but that didn’t deter top Anglers manipulating their Flies and taking my Noble Sea Trout and supreme and champion Angler of the day was Mr john Halstead who caught five sea trout and was caught on camera with a fine Sea Trout in the net and I can tell you by the end of the day he had netted himself a fine 19feet Davison Corrib boat, plus at the Championship Dinner which was held at the Butler Arms hotel, Mr Halstead was presented a fantastic photographic picture of a spawning Sea Trout, Courtesy of Mr Vincent Hyland, second in the Championship was Mr Alan Hassett with three Sea Trout and the biggest Sea Trout of 52cm was caught by well known local gillie Mr Frank Donnelly. Now a big thank you to the Management and staff of the Butler Arms Hotel who laid on a fantastic dinner which I might add was exquisite and last but not least I should mention Our Manger Mr John Murphy who organized the whole championship and did a fantastic job. Now back to the fishing, Mr Roger Wilcox and his Son David of the UK caught four Sea trout with their Gillie Vincent Appleby and of WWW.Salmonandseatrout.com wind SW fresh to strong and overcast with light rain in the morning, amount of rain fall 6.1mm max air temperature 16.6C/62.24F. 17/8/08 Not a great day for fishing but you try and tell that to Mr Roger Wilcox and his Son David who caught two fine Trout with their Gillie Mr Vincent Appleby and of WWW.Salmonandseatrout.com and just for the record Mr Roger Wilcox and his son David were fishing out of WWW.Oldcablehouse.com staying in the Sea trout department guests fishing with their gillie Mr Mike O’Dwyer caught one Sea trout and Mr Eubank caught a Sea trout just under 2lbs wind S then veered SE and rained all day and when the rain eventually cleared it veered SW, amount of rainfall 8.6mm, max air temperature 17.4C/63.32F. That is all the news from your gillie and the Waterville Fishery.
